A new video highlighting the sustainable life of Europe’s lead batteries was launched at the International Lead Association’s Pb2025 conference in Amsterdam.
The video – the latest addition to the ILA-CBI EU Advocacy Toolkit – demonstrates how the lead battery value chain is an exemplar of the circular economy in action. Highlighting lead batteries as a “quiet workhorse behind almost every aspect of our daily lives”, the 3 minute 35 second video showcases key applications and attributes of Europe’s lead battery value chain, presenting facts and data about Europe’s most recycled consumer product.
Did you know:
- Lead batteries are a key contributor to meeting Europe’s rechargeable energy needs. They are used in nearly every aspect of our lives, from vehicles, factories, warehouses, data centres to medical facilities, telecoms and utilities – providing essential energy to keep us moving, connected and protected.
- In Europe, over 95% of all available lead batteries that reach the end of their useful life are collected and recycled? That’s higher than aluminium cans, paper and glass.
- Today, the average lead battery made in Europe is comprised of more than 80% recycled materials.
The video is freely available and Consortium members are invited to share it appropriately within their networks.
